According to UN report, nearly 60 percent of India’s population practice open defecation which puts them at risk of diseases like cholera, diarrhea, typhoid etc.

India also faces the economic loss because of poor hygiene and sanitation in the country as a world bank reported in 2006 said that India losses 6.4 % of GDP annually because of the aforementioned reason.

India loses at least 1000 children a day to diarrhoeal deaths and the reason for these deaths is open defecation and lack of proper sanitation facilities.

The team of Mahendra Foundation Trust will go to the remote areas and spread awareness about the use of toilets, benefits of toilets and will demonstrate the people how to use the toilet and will distribute the sanitation kits too.
